Hello, there.
My name is Leonardo and I’m a trailer editor for low-budget independent filmmakers who want to find their audience. Ever since I was a kid, I have been obsessed with stories and how they made me feel. You probably got into filmmaking for a similar reason. You feel compelled to tell a story and make your audience feel something. But first, you need to get butts in seats. And for that, you need a great trailer.
I understand that, as a director, one of your greatest fears might be a distributor giving your film to a trailer editor you don’t know with notes you don’t agree with. And then the trailer goes out and not only does it spoil the story, now your character driven drama with horror elements gets presented as The Conjuring Clone #427 with a generic pop song playing throughout. The result: you get the wrong audience watching your film and no matter how good it is, they will be disappointed because they expected something else.
So you try and cut the trailer yourself, but because you’re still directing, you just see the deadlines passing by like a bus driver that didn’t see you sprint towards them.
That’s why when we work together, I make sure I’m aligned with you from the very beginning. You’ll work with me the same way you would with the colorist or the sound editor. You’re in control without having to work 18 hours a day to meet a deadline.
Over the years, I have cut trailers for different genres and mediums, from short films and series pilots to videogames and stage plays, all the while studying and breaking down the best trailers out there. This has allowed me to solve story problems and approach the edit from new perspectives, so I can deliver a trailer that helps you connect more deeply with the right audience. And as a bonus, I won’t spoil the entire film either.
